Weight lifting

When I was 17 and near one of the peaks of my physical prowess, I was trying to get Al started in weight lifting as a part of encouraging and helping prepare him for the higher level of highschool football (living my life vicariously you know). We were messing around with his little 110# barbell set in the basement, as I was giving him pointers on how to military lift this gargantuan(not really)tonnage, our dad comes down stairs and looks at us, asks us what we were doing, to our answer and with a twinkly, cat whisker smirk, proceeds to military lift this(with ease) one handed, and then to my shock, jerks it to the ceiling one handed.

I never gave Alan much advice on weight lifting after that. In fact I don't remember doing anything else that night except going to my room.

I looked upon my dad with a new found respect. In fact began to examine his physique a little more closely and compare it to mine. He had Popeye arms with about 20 inch biceps and forearms about as big. His wrists were as thick as my forearms and frankly from previous experience with his reflexes knew that he was world class.

It gets even more scary from there. His IQ was measured at 165. There was no outsmarting the man. He always did seem to pop up at the most inopportune times.

Old

My wife got her first membership invite to AARP, oh boy!

I copied a comment I made at Sam Burns site because I wanted to say more but It boils down to WAaaaa.

The prob I have with my age is that even if the computer did it all for me I still haven't really figured this thing out yet.

By the way the older you get the more stuff hurts and I hear it just gets worse. Owwww! I like getting older, arrgh. That funny noise your here is me stumping my way across the living room on my way to the fridge for another soda. Gotta have my caffien(d).

I used to run with the dogs but now.....I wish I dared to run. I do understand why older people just hop funny when the tried to move fast. How I ridiculed them. Now comes the time to payyyy.
Young-uns don't think bad of old ones cause you will soon be there. Worse, sooner than you think. My how time flies.

Brette Favre is still a great QB

Ah yes. Good ol football. A sports Op-Ed from my old home town Superior Wisconsin's Superior Evening Telegram.

Seperation of Church and State is a coined phrase

No where in the constitution is this often quoted statement, however what the constitution does say is that the "government shall make no law", concerning religion.

What the courts have declared and what the intellectual community accepts as fact simply does not comply with this simple precept, and also goes against the judicial systems desire to legislate from the bench.

The reason I bring this up is because I agree with the rest of this article explaining the differences in party attitude we have here in the U.S.. From Daily Kos: State of the Nation.

I believe that the liberal political perspective focuses its application of values in the public arena, eschewing the impulse to dictate how people should live their private lives and what their personal moral codes should be.

Zeke

Gets a link from it is what it is and check out his link to the smoking gun on a no nookey ruling from a Texas judge.

Y'all got to get something straight.

.
God is definitely in control of me on account of I really would like to use some old fashioned blue collar language.

You see I am, and maybe have to always be, blue collar. My dad was blue collar and even more a sailor. He spoke like a sailor. Very colorfully....if you like blue and your ears would definitely turn blue. The air was blue. Even the yellow snow turned blue in my dads presence.

I believe that many things cannot be repaired without the use of a few carefully chosen words, people included. Yes I fix people right up with those special words.

Man the color just comes right out in their cheeks. If you think someone is a little pale some word medicine pinks them right up.

It is such a lovely thing to know that you can help people feel more alive than they did a minute ago. They become downright vigorous. Why some have even challenged me to a race, which I must say to date I haven't lost yet, chuckle.

Well all in all I thought I would cheer things up today.

Y'all have a @#$%%^&*@@#%$% nice day.

Holy Crap (literally)

Get a load of this coming out of the catholic Church from Times on Line.

Catholic Church no longer swears by truth of the Bible
By Ruth Gledhill, Religion Correspondent

THE hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church has published a teaching document instructing the faithful that some parts of the Bible are not actually true.
The Catholic bishops of England, Wales and Scotland are warning their five million worshippers, as well as any others drawn to the study of scripture, that they should not expect total accuracy from the Bible.

Oh joy......you Catholics are not going to want to read what I have to say now so you might just want to go somewhere else and not read the rest of this.

If the Catholic Upper crust and Cream do not believe that the whole bible is true then what are you believing in. Repent of thy heresy or crumble as a church. With out the 'full faith' in the written word, that is if it is not all true then none of it is and if the leadership doesn't believe it then they won't be able to teach it to the rest of their congregations and will gravitate away from the vine that is Jesus Christ. A branch that does not dwell in the vine will wither and die.

There is also this as a final note:

Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

It would have been better for the Catholic leadership to let sleeping curses lie.

Blogger growth

About ten years ago I was talking to Al my brother about some old times and I was telling him that even though I was benching nie unto 300 lbs I was a little low in the ego dept. due to the fact that most of the people around me were somewhat stronger. He gave me a little boost by telling me when he and Johnnie would be sitting behind me in church and I would get one of those urges to yawn and stretch( I don,t know why I had to do that in church)that my bicepts were rather impressive.

About 1 1/2 years ago Al sent me an e-mail giving me the url to his web site. I took the bate and clicked a link and now.........
Well it seems only yesterday I started to blog and have scratched my way up from maybe 1 read a day to 20 or so.
I still am somewhat insecure due to the fact that many of the people that have linked to my site are just that.....so much stronger. God bless anyway and I am tickled over it.

And the strategy for this Supreme Court nominee should also be

Same as the last one; John Roberts, against what I would normally say or like. Wheel and deal, twist arms, compromise, and generally do what ever it takes to get this nominee confirmed.

God is in control

Isa 44:24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

Isa 55:10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

Jer 10:13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

Amo 4:13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.

Mat 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just1 and on the unjust.

Jesus says that God is the Causer of rain and the old testament time and time again states that God is the maker of wind.

For christians who do not believe that Katrina is an act of God think yet again. For he is. Believe or don't. Nuff said.

What's happening to me?

I just read another site which..........is unholy.

Fixer Uppers

Omni has a post with some advice:When you're getting to know someone, or contemplating doing so, take an objective look at what they say, and ask yourself honestly, "Is this normal, healthy behavior?" If the answer is "no," resist the urge to try to cheer them up, or be their therapist, or, worst of all, invest emotion in them by being their friend; the only thing you can do for people who are screwed up is let them know that they have a problem, make clear what the problem is (or how else can they see it and fix it?) and then back away from them... they'll NEVER try to sort themselves out if they don't hear the truth, or if they keep getting attention from the well-meaning.

She is very right about not trying to fix someone though I personally try to say something positive about the individual to the individual just to let them know that they have something to build on, that is of course if they haven't shown their butt to me in which case I like to get out the sand paper and rub their hind ends with it. I mean after all if they are going to irritate me I might as well do the same for them(the golden rule).

I do not try to say things as nice as Omni-not out of meanness but because I purposely shape my words to be like unto a sword. If a person has a demon it usually gets it mad and out it comes. The only way to set a demon straight is to get it out in the open and hence the need for the sword. Those evil things gotta see it and know that their existence is in jeopardy if they get rude or do something wicked.

Back to the flesh; Of course in reading an article like this a person who professes to be into self improvement such as I must see if it applies to oneself; both in toto or in some parts, but then there is no such thing as the proverbially round peg for that round hole. Some of it does apply to me but like Alanis Morrisette sang, "Some good advice that I just can't take,".

I got to be my self

I am a man.

Eze 28:9 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.

Though I shine bright yet I am a man and though men say that the devil is of light it yet just guile.

Have you ever wondered

This is for the spiritual hearted. If God sees fit to cause you to fall in love with him from then if you have a wonderance about anything, God the Father WILL tell you and he withholds nothing from you Ever. All you have to do is wait for the Answer trusting that when it is right for the timing of God's plan and His kingdom and for His sake. Not yours or mine or the worlds. But I guarantee you he will answer.

If you want anything he will give it to you with-holding nothing. Ask Lucifer on that one.

On the side..... Lucifer is not Satin. God did change Satan's appearance from a serpent with legs to a worm that eats dirt. Lucifer is a being of light that walks upright and let them(?) dirty him up a little, Satan just crawls around on his belly(used to walk on four legs).

Zec 3:3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
Zec 3:4 And he answered and spoke unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

Be satisfied with this for to be anything else is to stumble.

I know, been there Dumb that.

Ohhh how can I look at this and know I shouldn't.

I just had to succumb to my curiosity which is what I get. From Samantha Burns to ihumpthings to tears in my eyes over my stupidity.

Who was Kin Takahashi?

.
Whoa did that little generator below just pick a name at random?
.
Kin Takahashi came to Maryville College in 1888 after having spent two years in a Hopkins Academy in Massachusetts. At the end of his second year in the States, Kin, whose parents were Shintoist and Buddhist, converted to Christianity. At hearing of his conversion, Kin's parents cut off all financial support. Through another Hopkins student, Kin learned of Maryville College and the College's commitment to aid financially-strapped young students who wanted a college education. In Kin Takahashi's short time as an undergraduate, he started the first football team, organized self-help projects for financially strapped students and, most notably, spearheaded the building of Bartlett Hall.

I Have the POWER!!!!

Ok I know that there is a prob with the grid because of Hurricane Katrina but keep it dialed to 242v because 248 is going to start blowing low voltage transformers and then people are going to be with out heat and air.

I already have 2 out because of the voltage.

The reason Pro Abortionists keep loosing

You cannot abort 1/3 of all babies conceived and expect for your ideals to survive. It is simple math. What would 20 million more registered voters born of the liberal left have done for Al Gore and John Kerry ? They lost the elections not because of their stand on abortion but because Roe v Wade killed their future supporters.

I believe all of those unborn innocents went to Heaven.

For the Demon-Crats just more proof that you-all are gonna go extinct.

Some part of me wants to laugh but the rest of me thinks that it would at best be hollow and crass, and even for me the thought is just to horrifying. Funny how I always say that in the end the crazy ideas that are twisted into truth by people who think and not know the truth are always lost in this survival of the fittest era.

Ten reasons why I cannot be a politician

1. I flashed the girls track team at regionals in high school. (I never did figure out why they ran towards me)

2. I am honest.

3. I do not believe in compromise.

4. I look like Richard Nixon with blond hair especial the nose.

5. I act like a nut so no one will want to ask me to run for office. ( This one didn't work they asked me twice)(Oh I get it you have to be nuts to run for office---my bad)

6. I did not finish college and I would have to lie about it. (this conflicts with my need to be honest)

7. I might say things like "if you don't stop pesterin our country I am gonna stick my size 11 shoes so far up your a-- you'll be eatin rubber for a month."(wait a minute didn't Ronald Reagan say "go ahead make my day???)

8. I would suggest every American buy a gun.

9. No one would ever be able to figure out why I want equal pay for equal work but still think woman should stay at home but if they want to work it is fine with me. (holy crap that is how the politicians talk)

10. Good God I have to run for office(no way)

Omni

I am sorry that I have not responded to your comment but my comments link is sporadic and at times impossible for me to access. A problem I find frustrating. Sorry. I will keep trying to answer as soon as I get in there.

Interesting Poem

From a visitor to my site. For the rest of it go to that link.

We could have gone all the way to the Great Wall of China
If you'd only had a little more faith in me
In lieu of diamonds, gold and platinum reminders will still shine bright
All the king's men and all the king's horses
Can't put you together the way you used to be
We could have been standing on the Great Wall of China

My mom said to me one day as she was about to whip me,"This hurts me more than it hurts you"

One day I wise cracked "Sure it does." Of course that didn't make the whippin any lighter and in fact it just enraged her. But today I am grateful for the whippins and believe it or not I really don't remember them.

Related to this and to all the driving and cracking the whip, and urging, cajoling, and pleading that I do with people to press on to newer and greater heights. I want you to know that it hurts me more than it hurts you.

But the rewards are worth it as I see improvement and positive change which leads to the next entry in my site. Not that I am not glad for the lessons that are portrayed but that someone else recognized the patern of righteousness and can tell others.

Stuff that brings tears of Joy to my eyes

Five (5) lessons to make you think about the way we treat people.
1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.
During my second month of college, our professor
gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student
and had breezed through the questions until I read
the last one:
"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the
cleaning woman several times. She was tall,
dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name?
I handed in my paper, leaving the last question
blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if
the last question would count toward our quiz grade.
"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers,
you will meet many people. All are significant. They
deserve your attention and care, even if all you do
is smile and say "hello."
I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her
name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain
One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American
woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway
trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had
broken down and she desperately needed a ride.
Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.
A young white man stopped to help her, generally
unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man
took her to safety, helped her get assistance, and
put her into a taxicab.
She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his
address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a
knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a
giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A
special note was attached..
It read:
"Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway
the other night. The rain drenched not only my
clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along.
Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying
husband's bedside just before he passed away... God
bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving
others."
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nat King Cole.

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those
who serve.
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less,
a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and
sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in
front of him.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.
"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and
studied the coins in it.
"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired.
By now more people were waiting for a table and the
waitress was growing impatient.
"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.
The little boy again counted his coins.
"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on
the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice
cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress
came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the
table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish,
were two nickels and five pennies..
You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had
to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path.
In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a
roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if
anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the
king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by
and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the
King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did
anything about getting the stone out of the way.
Then a peasant came along carrying a load of
vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the
peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the
stone to the side of the road. After much pushing
and straining, he finally succeeded. After the
peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed
a purse lying in the road where the boulder had
been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note
from the King indicating that the gold was for the
person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The
peasant learned what many of us never understand!
Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve
our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts...
Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a
hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who
was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only
chance of recovery appeared to be a blood
transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had
miraculously survived the same disease and had
developed the antibodies needed to combat the
illness. The doctor explained the situation to her
little brother, and asked the little boy if he would
be willing to give his blood to his sister.
I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a
deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will
save her." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in
bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did,
seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his
face grew pale and his smile faded.
He looked up at the doctor and asked with a
trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away".
Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the
doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his
sister all of his blood in order to save her.
"Work like you
don't need the money, love like you've never been
hurt, and dance like you do when nobody's watching."
NOW more than ever - Peace...Pass It On.....

"Centuries from now it will not matter about the house we lived in or how
much money we made in a lifetime but the world may be better because we helped some of God's little animals on this earth during our life span."

The customer is nuts

Do you know why we call a service man to our house? Certainly not because we know how to fix what we want fixed, but because we don't know how to fix what we want fixed. I hate it when a customer starts to grill me about a job I am doing for them; often long before I am finished. What do they think-that when I stop and answer their questions that the clock stops. No! It doesn't. I do like telling them that I answer questions and it is gonna cost them a buck a minute whether I am working on their equipment or talking to them. Which would they prefer.

That by the way Steve is why I clamed that my name in Japanese is really Ahhh-so and not what a previous entry of mine said.

I don't tend to blame them too much after all most of them are spoiled by the Air-conditioning and now are HOT. Crazy HOT. To which I say have patience because they have just gotten the most persistent and conscientious HVAC tech in this whole region. In fact that may be my main problem. I will try to fix some stuff that should be junked.

Most HOT customers though are pretty well burnt by the time I get there and for some reason don't seem to understand that if they would save the questions until I write the bill that they would get cooooler faster. But NOOO. They have to ask me:

Have you found the problem yet? (said with a nasally wine)

What is wrong with It? (It is broke I tell them)

Do you know what your doing?(which I try from then on to make them feel like I may not just to see them turn blue with fear)
How long have you been doing this job?(oh-only since last week, I tell them)

How much is it going to cost?(I will tell the next customer that asks that one I have a surgeon on standby for when I finish the work to amputate whatever appendage I deem necessary for payment.)

How come it stopped working. (to which I love to say "Oh I don't know, Stuff breaks, gets old, and wears out, people abuse things or it was an act of God".)

I know I know I shouldn't be so customer friendly and honest but you know how I feel about lieing. Beside I have always felt that the customer deserves the absolute truth about what I am doing and how I feel about their equipment, after all it is their stuff I am working on. Now if I could just find a way to tell them how I feel about them without making them mad.

For instance one day when a particularly interested customer who insisted that he worked on electronics in airplanes and persisted in trying to tell me how to fix a furnace to which I finally told him to go sit down in the living room I wasn't building an airplane here just wiring up a air handler. The guy freaked and I just don't know why?

How about the time I kept getting called back to the house where a wife with a husband that had alzhiemers kept trying to blame us for her A/C problems until one day I discovered that the husband was going up to the T-stat and shortcycling the unit until it would quit. He had blown up the gas furnace(luckily it was a package unit and the explosion occurred outside). Oh, but no, it was our fault. God...Does that woman know that her life is in jeopardy? NOooo. Can't tell her that either,I tried....... she freaked.

How about the time that I practically saved a woman's life. This is an interesting one. She calls up and says, "if my carbon monoxide detector is going off does that mean my furnace is bad?" I asked,"How do you feel, do you have a headache and feel nauseous?" To which she replied,"Yes I do". I said "Turn off your furnace and go outside immediately and I will come right over". You know when I got there that she was still in the house and still running that furnace. God. Help me have patience with these people. She is a freaking nurse at the hospital. She should have known the symptoms. I checked her furnace and woah. The heat ex-changer was broke and pumping enough carbon monoxide into her house to supply a Nazi concentration camp. I shut it down and then disable it and made her go outside and get some fresh air. Just the couple of minutes I spent in her house made me woosy. She must have been an carbon monoxide breathing alien to still be conscious.

C-mon people if you knew how to fix your stuff you would have done it yourself and not called my company. Get with the program. I know their are schiesters and just plain old morons for technicians out there but are you people so jaded that you can't tell when a sincere technician has showed up to do the work or is their just no hope for America?
