For two years now we have been taking care of a little chihuahua named Mickey that we took in when he was 17.
Little Mickey used to live with an old man as his companion until the man passed away leaving Mick to his son. Because Mickey was blind and had some other medical concerns the son who was no spring chicken himself decided he could not take care of him and decided to send him to the pound. A young lady there who also worked at a dog sitter took some pitty on the old dog and brought him to Touch of Home Pet Resort. They kept him up front right along with our pet Jasmine a 110 pound German Shepard/hound mix. Well as it could be had little Mickey started following Jas around and sleeping next to her and of course my wife Karen thought it was cute. My wife brought him home where for the first year he proved to be a fun loving pesky little you know what, but he fit right in. He was a stinky, loud yappin, toe nippin, scrap eatin, Jasmine pesterin, loyal friend.
Over the last year of course as health failing, more and more we realized he didn't have much time left until finally Karen knew that we couldn't bear to watch him any more and made a visit to the vet.
Mickey was 19.
We buried Mick next to another neighbors dog in his back yard in a hand made coffin.
And with this verse I commemorate Mickeys life.
Isa 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
So long Mickey and thanks.
